The HC1D water-oxygen energy cell is the energy source for HydraCell lighting products. HC1D HydraCells can be stored sealed, prior to first use, for 25+ years. They are activated to full capacity by simply dipping in water for 15 seconds. Once activated the cells will operate continuously under load, requiring only periodic re-hydration. At the end of the useful lifetime of the cells, they can be easily replaced.

Activation of the Hydracell energy cells – simple and fast
A magnesium core surrounded by salt-impregnated bridge layers is moistened during activation. The bridge layers connect the magnesium core to air, which is oxygen. This electrochemical reaction produces electrons – the usable energy. Occasional re-activation of the energy cells provides ongoing energy.
